Happy Halloween!

Smells Like Elementary Again

For Halloween this year we decided to carve some pumpkins. We did 2 of them and couldnt really keep them outside because the year round spawns of Satan known as kids will inevitably smash them just like everything else in the neighborhood. Either way we carved them anyway and took some pictures.

Neither got ruined. Amazing.

Atlanta Viking Results

I didn't win. Actually there were a lot of tough players there... 97 to be exact. I won some matches but didnt reach the money. First round I played what was called the azbilliards feature match against Mike Templeton and after several safety battles I ended up winning 7-2. I continued to play well and just got beaten by some "kid" I underestimated later in the day on the winners side. Lesson learned. Later on in the 1 losers bracket this guy had me down 4-1 in a race to 7. I was a bit upset and tried as hard as I could to win and won the next 6 in a row. But nevertheless at around 10:40 that night I was put out by some guy from Orlando, Fl. Matt Reed from Hickory, NC went on to win it undefeated. GJ Matt.

The tables were very nice and the place was packed. There were over 250 for an apa tournament and 97 for the 9 ball tournament. Heres some pics of the 9 ball side on 9' tables and Mike doing the calcutta.

Spicy Little Girl in Subway

So on lunch I go to Subway with a coworker named Seph. Everything is going fine and then this small little girl happens:

What can I get for you?

a 6 inch Subway Club on white.
She turns and comes back with wheat.

Oh I said on white.
Nooo you said wheat.
No I really said white.
NO. I heard you say wheat.
at this point I'm thinking ok.. so turn around and get white and let it go. Does she? If so I wouldnt be writing this. She starts to cut the wheat anyway ignoring my request for white while grinning.

Ok I really dont want wheat. I said white.
No! You said white! I mean.. er I mean you said wheat. as shes now biting her lip smiling.
See even your mouth doesn't agree with you. She turns around still biting her lip trying not to crack. Seph says to me "Dude she likes you haha"

She turns around with white.

So did you say 6" or do you want 12" now??
I said 6"
Ok I was just making sure just incase something changed again. she winks.

SO then she just sits there and I have had enough at this point even though she was trying to be all cute and flirty and just give her "the look" that means I'm done joking with her. Usually it works and people let it go. Oh not her. She stops, puts her knife down, puts her hands on the counter, and in a very oh so dramatic way rolls her head up to give me "the look" - women professional style right back at me making it painfully obvious she knew what I was doing and that she didnt give half a shit.

Look I get enough of this at work. I dont need it on lunch too.
I have to do this every day. I dont even get a lunch break. I actually have to wait until we're not busy to try to eat.

At this point I feel like I'm on a mission to rescue my sandwich while avoiding the flirty onslaught.

FINALLY the manager steps in and then she starts to finish making the sammich while still smiling and flirting with me while I'm across the room waiting on Seph. Naturally Seph is like ohhh lets see here.... need a drink lid... where do they keep those straws anyway?? Giving me a hard time.. I'm like omg fuck this and left to go wait in the car. He gets in the car and then looks at me and laughs so hard I was hoping he cracked a rib.

For all of her effort if I was single I would've taken her out just once at least because she was relentless. Its rare to see a little fiery girl like this that just doesnt ever give up.

Sunday / Monday League

I won all 3 matches on Sunday. I was tied up in 9 ball 11-11 playing a 5. I then ran 35 balls in a row winning 46-5. in 8 ball I won 5-0 and 5-1. On Monday the same captain chose the same piece of shit table and I now look at it with no expectations on Monday.

I play a strong 4. I'm up 15-2 at this point and play a safety. He kicks out and hits it.... So I think fine I'll safe you again. So I did. And he hit that one too. Now I'm a little ego hurt and put the cueball in Alcatraz. No way hes getting out of this. Wrong. He gets out of it. Now this safe was so good I've seen top pros on tv like Nick Varner and Earl Strickland miss this... and this kid hits it and almost makes it.

At this point I dont care about the match. I'm going to get him to foul due to my safety. I spent the rest of the match focusing on that making what I had to to get into position to safe again. He never fouled on one of my safeties. I won the match by only 3 points and felt like I lost it because he kicked out of all safes.. even the 2 and 3 railers. Gj little strong kicking 4.

I'll update this again soon.

The Good, The Bad, and The Strange.

The Lord of the Class Rings

I found my class ring after it being missing for around 7 years. This ring means a good bit to me since I had a pool table put on the side of it in memory of a friend who died. His name was Lee Tipton. To keep this from being too terribly sad it'll be brief on the sad part. He was killed by a shotgun at a party when I was 17 years old. I used to go to the arcade rooms with him and also he would play some pool. He appeared to be a "god" of pool to me and well.. everyone else around at the time. Keep in mind this was 8 ball on bar tables and the occasional 8'. Nevertheless he could make shots and noone else could. I started to play some pool with him off and on inbetween arcade games and really liked it.

After he died it gave me motivation to really focus and get good at pool. I wanted to get better at the game and do very well in his memory since he was pretty good at it. Sounds cheesy but I figured it would be the best way for me to remember him. I moved shortly thereafter to Texas where a lot of great players were and then I began to be serious about pool. I wore the ring until it kept dinging my cues up and then I kept it with me in my case. You can still see the chalk in the pictures and it's not been cleaned just yet.

Well I apparently gave it to my mom when I was 20 for some reason.. and she put it in her jewelry box and forgot about it and so did I. Well it turned up and I'm glad I still have it.

Dude wheres thy car?

So I overslept one day for work and was awakened by a loud bang. I thought someone was in my house. Nicki and I awoke suddenly wondering what the hell it was. She goes and looks out back and sees a tire sitting in our back yard. She yells "Theres a tire in our back yard?!". I said is there a car missing one? There was no car... After further investigation some little bratty punk kids rolled a tire down the hill into our house and broke the siding.

Nicki first grabbed my keys and drove up there and asked who did it. Of course none of them would say anything. She then called the police playing the distressed female which she can do so well and got the police out here and the landlord and what not to file a police report to make us not responsible for the damages.

Where did the tire come from you ask? Well it's not a car tire. It's a boat trailer tire from a chained in area near where the bastards wait on the school bus.

Out of all the strange things that could happen.. I did not expect a tire to come down our back yard hill and into our house. If it had been 1.5 feet over it would have went through our back door and into our kitchen since our back door is all glass. Maybe with luck a school bus will run over them in time.

Slightly dry.....

Enough said? Never! Ok this is a part of Lake norman. The lake is missing from this part of it. We need rain so it can fill up and people can not bathe and swim in the water that will be there again.

We go both ways!

I found this slightly amusing. I seen these 2 signs a block from my house pointing the opposite directions. Reminded me of the scarecrow from wizard of oz. SO I stuck him in the middle with a horribly bad photoshop job.

Upcoming Viking Tournament in Atlanta

The 20-21st of this month I will be hopefully winning :D the viking tournament in Atlanta, Ga. It's a 9 ball tournament on 9' tables with 2500.00 added to the pot. I dread the 4.5 hour drive but I must go try to win!

After that I have a tournament in Greenville, SC the 3-4th at a badass looking place that i'll post pics of soon enough.

League..... Ugh

Still winning and still playing. It's not terribly fun since it's not really challenging but I do like playing other people and the infinite free pool time. I get my challenges at the Viking tournaments.

I'm quitting my league team on Monday but am still playing with my other team on Sunday. They rock!. The captain on Monday sucks. Now I know why his entire team quit after last session. He kicked my friend (Andy) off the team because Andy got upset (and Andy was very calm btw) that our captain asked him not to drink because hes being played that night against an 8. Also he hadnt played 2 previous weeks. So 2.5 hours later hes supposed to play and the captain plays himself instead and tells Andy oh well. So when he got upset the captain kicked him off the team which is just idiotic. The guy that he played raped him.. but Andy would've crushed him. The captain is a piece of shit in my opinion. That's all that needs to be said.

Viking 9 ball tour in Greensboro, NC

Viking tournament

http://vikingcue.com/9balltour.htm

Well I'm still sick but went to the tournament anyway. It was only a little more than 1.5 hour drive to this one. This was the first Viking tour stop event I've played in. Out of 40 people I got 5th. Personally I'm happy with that result however I did miss a few shots in my final match that were very uncharacteristic of me. But after 11 hours of playing while being sick I guess it's pretty good just to get 5th in a tournament like that.

The tournament was ran really well. There were a few assholes there that played in it. One of them was too old to probably drive himself there. One guy I played a safe on jumped the 3 ball to hit the 1 ball and hit the 3 ball and moved it a good 4-5 inches and made the 1 but still claimed it was a good hit. I was not having that since it wasnt a good hit so I took ball in hand and ran out. He was all pissed off for awhile but got over it.

The only other guy I had any problems with was about 900 years old and refused to lag for the break, and refused to rack when he lost. So I just let the kodger do whatever he wanted and beat him 5-1.

Everyone else in the tournament was very polite and nice even though the tournament director Mike Janis butchered my last name. Many good players were there as well. Overall it was a great event and I plan to do many more.

Atlanta GA Viking Event

I have another Viking tournament in Atlanta, GA coming up the 20th and that is a much longer drive. It's around 4.5 hours. I'm going to stay with someone I know from Atl whos about 15 mins away from the pool hall if I make it to the second day. So instead of 11 hours it'll probably be around 22 hours total given I dont get beat before the second day.

Previous Post Update

It's not happened. I'm still sick. Don't count on it.

League

Well I didnt get to play league on Sunday because I was at the viking tournament. I didn't get to play Monday either because we have too many people on our team who need games so it's hit or miss sometimes.

I also have not received all the patches I've won because my captain refuses to give a damn. My Monday team isn't nearly as fun as Sundays. Oh well. I'll be changing teams next session.

George Bush anyone?

I'll get back to better posts whenever I get better.
